When all of the chakras (or centers) of a man are in harmony with those of a woman it is said you have found a soul mate. When this occurs a person will come to realize sex is not just sex. Deep inside sex is love, and even deeper is prayer. Sex becomes a cosmic experience, then one has experienced Tantra.

During Tantra yoga meditation a Tantra devotee calmly sits and purifies the mind and heart of thoughts and desires. The devotee then finds the life force inside his or her being and through imagination and feeling. The goal of Tantra Yoga is to make one aware of all states of consciousness, whether in an awake state, dream state or sleep state. Tantra yoga helps one realize desires are natural and as long as think of them, one will have them. The constant longing for desire makes one yearn for and love the desired objects. Tantra yoga helps one reprogram his or her mind.

Tantra explains the knowledge concerning Tattva and Mantra. Contrary to what has been believed Tantra is not books, witchcraft, magic spells or sorcery. Tantra is meant to help one draw inspiration and attain wisdom, eternal bliss and spiritual strength. To some, the Tantra is a secret doctrine. One can not learn from studying a book, it can only be gained from practice. A Tantric student must possess devotion, faith, purity, dedication, dispassion, courage, truthfulness and contentment.

An individual person will only get out of Tantra what they put into it. A person who brings a lot to the table will be more effective than one who does not. A person or couple who has worked on personal growth before doing Tantra may have a head start on the person who is just starting to get into the aspects of life. Many Westerners will only look at the sexual aspects of Tantra, even though the richer areas of Tantra will help with the personal evolution.

Tantra is often practiced the following way: A Tantra devotee sits once the mind is purified and the heart is free of thoughts and desires. The devotee then needs to sense the force of life within his or her being and through imagination direct the life force to rise up from the spine to the forehead. When life force is gathered at the forehead, the yogi directs the energy out of the devotee to form a body of light three to six before him or her. After fifteen to thirty minutes the yogi invites the light to slowly return back to the forehead and traveled down the base of the spine.
